Expendio Tradición is a mezcalería restaurant that opened its doors in December 2014, under the incomparable seal of the mezcals of Casa Tradición Chagoya, promoting the mezcal, tradition and gastronomic richness of Oaxaca.
The space has been designed and created to offer the Mezcal experience, with the pride and respect with which this spiritual drink is produced and accompanied, which is an important part of the ceremonial life of the Oaxacan communities. Endorsed by the seal of Casa Tradición Chagoya, with 127 years and five generations of a family dedicated to the production of artisanal Mezcal, Expendio Tradición offers a workshop menu with dishes that are prepared from endemic ingredients to be paired with the different types of Mezcal from the house.
Winners of the GOURMET AWARDS for “Best National Mixology”, awarded by Grupo Expansión, Expendio Tradición presents in each of its cocktails the art and skill of new fusions with mezcal, expanding the limits of classic cocktails.
Expendio Tradición's cuisine is based on an ideology of food to share, under the principle of using organic ingredients, said ingredients produced or cultivated mostly in regions surrounding the valleys of Oaxaca; it uses cooking techniques that highlight and allow these ingredients to retain all their essential characteristics; with the sole objective of the diner living an experience in which they enjoy Oaxacan gastronomy in harmony with mezcal.
With a rich history full of customs, legends, folklore and high quality standards in the production of mezcal, from the cultivation of agave to the artisanal bottling in glass, Casa Tradición Chagoya has been producing mezcals in an artisanal way since 1897 and through five generations. Today, it strives to make mezcal known from experience and history and not only from the product brought to customers, this enigmatic drink in cocktails or straight drinks.
